webinar 6 : 40 min / 45 min

Why is the moment in the amount of 1000 gmm counterclockwise?

and the same :
Why is the moment of the couple (described at 45 min ) clockwise?

Imagine you apply the extrusive force of 50g on the incisor side, it would produce a rotation with hinge on the molar counter clockwise.
Its equivalent force system on the molar is therefore the same force of 50g plus a moment of 1000gmm(50*20) ccw.
To this you have to add the existing 500gmm cw as activation force system on the incisor side which do not change as equivalent to the molar.

Thank you!

Can you please explain a bit closer why is the effect of the torque prescription in segmented (when the wire is cut posterior to canines) limited?

This is because the torque is generated by the wire deflection, and a good part of it happens behind the canine. Another factor, is the relative resistance to the movement. The torque on the anterior teeth can be generated because all the posterior teeth have more resistance to the displacement than the anterior teeth (for their mass an for occlusal forces). If your reactive unit is only the canine the effect is much less, since the canine alone is not a good anchorage. [strike] [/strike]
